About Atatürk Website
I receive emails constantly asking who is the person managing this site, and it is hard reply to each email due to the amount I receive every day. Well, I hope this article answers the questions that I had asked many times before which also might clear some minds.
Ataturk.com is formed as a not for profit organization, so all the income received through advertisements on the site is used to maintain the website. The monthly income amount is roughly $60 from both Google, Kontera and Amazon advertisements and the expense amount is at $300 so we have a $240 deficit every month which is covered by myself. The website run on it's own Dell server which was purchased 2 years ago by me. We also purchase and donate books and other materials to organizations throughout the world in order to educate others about Ataturk and Turkey. To this date, we have not received any donations from anybody. Please do not think anybody is making an income through advertising on this website, simply that is not the case. If any company likes to sponsor the website (we can place banners saying "sponsored by XYZ Company"), I will be delighted to talk so do not hesitate to contact.
I am open to criticism which I receive a lot and read when many of you take the time to write, however I would like to ask you to be considered and think about what you have done in your life to improve the world before you criticise me heavily for what I am trying to do in my little world.
Now about me: My name is Cent (yes, it is a Turkish name which is derived from name Cüneyt which is my father's name) and I was born in Istanbul and today almost 40 years old. I am happily married and have 2 children. I have finished upto high school in Etiler, Istanbul. I have than went to college in the United States. My original plans were to move back to Turkey once I finish school, but that did not work out as I planned and stayed in the States and became quite successful as an entrepreneur mainly in telecommunications.
I have been asked if I was Turkish or American many times, like I said I was born in Turkey from Turkish parents and live in the States but, I am proud to be a citizen of Earth. I see every human being equally, regardless of who they are, where they are from or what their beliefs are. I do not have any particular ideological axe to grind and am not a member of any political party or organization.
I am also a very outspoken person, if I see wrong things in my opinion, I can not stop myself talking against it. That sometimes puts me in trouble. Of course I am not always right, so I try to keep an open mind and I know how to apologize and admit I was wrong. I beleive because of this, I am very well respected in my community.
Now, you are probably wondering why I registered Atatürk domain names? To be honest, there was no particular reason. Many years ago, I just did not want these domains to go to wrong hands and it just felt right. Besides, Atatürk is my role model, I am facinated with everything he has accomplished. I wanted to educate my community (in the States) about this great man, and instead of just talking, I told my friends about the web site. Everybody where I live knows I am from Turkey, and because there is not many Turks around, I am always asked about it, and Atatürk is being the main figure of modern Turkey, that is usually where I try to educate people first. Let's also do not forget, Atatürk is not just a great leader of Turkey, knowing about this leader can teach many good things to everybody. Some of you may not agree with me, but this is my opinion.
I try to help everybody in life as much as I can. I feel owe Turkey for raising me, and I try to do good things to full-fill my duty. This website is one of them, I feel while it promotes my views, it also helps Turkish people where it educates others about Turkey. I also donated a domain name to Turkish Tourism Ministry several years ago when they wanted to purchase goturkey.com to promote Turkish Tourism, I simply just gave it to them (at no charge) and asked for a thank you letter from the Ministry where Mr. Erkan Mumcu supposed to send it. Well after so many years I am still waiting for that letter (I am humorly being sarcastic here, ha ha ha).
Having this site brings a lot of responsibilities. While trying to make my opinions public, I try not to hurt anybody and try to be as objective as possible. If somebody thinks I am wrong or if I hurt somebody's feelings please let me know (register on the site than use the link to send a comment with your email and phone number).
Even though I explained in the FAQs, I am still being asked why this site is in English. Let me explain my view on this: If you are in Turkey, you have enough text books about Atatürk which you can read either at a library or purchase them; There are enough TV programs you can watch; All the schools teach about Atatürk. If you are not in Turkey your sources are limited but Internet is the fastest and easiest source for information and English has become the Internet language, and that is why.
For now, That all friends.
